JNV One — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 July 2026 · Operated by Ajit Kumar Singh · Contact jnvone.app@gmail.com

1. Who this applies to

This policy explains what personal information JNV One collects, why, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who creates an account and uses the app.

2. Information we collect

Account: email address and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), and your name.

Profile (you choose what to add): school (JNV), batch/year, region, role (Alumni / Student / Teacher), headline, company, bio, skills, recognitions, education & work history, and a profile photo.

Sensitive details (optional): phone number, date of birth, gender, blood group, and current city. You control who can see your phone number (Only me / Connections / Everyone), and these fields are protected so they are not exposed in general profile listings.

Content & activity: posts, comments, images, likes, bookmarks, direct messages, community memberships, event RSVPs, help/mentorship requests, and election activity.

Device: a push-notification token (to send notifications). We do not collect your device's GPS location — "location" is a city you type yourself. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.

3. How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.

4. Legal basis

We process your information based on your consent (given by creating an account and adding optional details) and to provide the service. Where the DPDP Act 2023 (India) or GDPR (EU/EEA) applies, you have the rights in Section 8 and may withdraw consent at any time.

5. How your information is shown to other members

JNV One is a social network, so some information is visible to other signed-in members: your name, photo, school/batch/region, headline, bio, skills, and public details; your posts and comments to the audience you post to; and your community/event participation. Contact details (phone) are shown only per the visibility you choose; date of birth and email are not shown on your public profile. This in-app visibility is not sharing with third parties.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share it only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf — Supabase (database, authentication, storage) and Expo / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) — and where required by law or to protect the safety of our members.

7. Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account (Section 8), we delete your profile and associated personal content, except where limited records must be retained to comply with law. Backups are rotated and purged routinely.

8. Your rights and choices

9. How we protect your information

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access is enforced at the database level with row-level security, so members can only read/write what they're permitted to; private contact fields are additionally restricted. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes.

10. Children and minors

JNV One includes current JNV students, who may be minors. You must be at least 13 years old to use JNV One. If you are under 18, you may use the app only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian, who accepts this policy on your behalf. We do not knowingly collect information from children below the applicable minimum age without verifiable parental consent; contact jnvone.app@gmail.com to request removal.

11. International data transfers

Your information is stored and processed on our providers' infrastructure, which may be located in India (Mumbai). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and update the effective date; significant changes will be notified in the app.
